The Edible Garden show is a yearly grow your own event, which is held across 3 days, featuring celebrity gardeners, chefs and experts from across the UK. The show is targeted at all gardening skill levels from first time gardeners to seasoned professionals with expert theatres, cookery shows and gardening clinics offering professional help and advice. The show also features an exhibition of gardening products, innovative ideas and services from garden machinery to beehives.

We were approached by Channell Events, an events marketing & promotion agency and asked to review the old Edible Garden Show website. Channell Events informed us of a number of limiting and serious issues, which were directly affecting growth, site administration and online performance. The existing site design had become dated and the site usability and navigation was poor. The old content management system had struggled to adapt with the changing and evolving needs of the show and as a result page styles and content no longer followed the sites original design.

We were asked by Channell Events to redesign and rebuild the website, utilising the sites existing branding and identity. The new design had to be contemporary with a strong user experience, featuring social marketing functionality and focused on promoting and marketing the show and the exhibition. Our core goals were to firstly build a 100% content managed website, with a simple and easy to use administration suite, secondly to create a simple and intuitive design, utilising existing branding in a fresh new way and improving the user experience of the site, thirdly focusing the design and site structure on marketing and promoting the event creating an informative and interactive platform to interact with the shows online community and finally to create a search engine compatible platform which encouraged organic search engine growth.
