Matt Cutts, head of web spam at Google, finally acknowledges this in the following video where he discusses Google’s use of the tag and its importance. The keyword tag is still used by other search engines and does still have an important use in SEO, all be it a lot less than in the past. It’s still worth using and including but not essential.
